Terms of Use
Last updated 2026-10-26
Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using shinetree. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, publishing a page, or making a booking through shinetr.ee (the "Service"), you ("you" or "your") agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms") with shinetree ("shinetree", "we", "us" or "our"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page, change the "Last updated" date, and notify account holders by email where a change is material. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of the Service
shinetree is a booking and scheduling service. Account holders ("Creators") publish a page that lists the sessions they offer, their availability and their prices. Visitors ("Bookers") use that page to book a session, submit an offer for a session, or pay for one. The Service also provides email notifications, optional calendar synchronisation, optional video meeting links, private Discord rooms, and a place for the Creator's social links.
shinetree provides the platform only. The session itself is an agreement between the Creator and the Booker, and shinetree is not a party to it.
3. Eligibility
By using the Service you represent that:
- You are at least 16 years of age.
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
- Your use of the Service complies with the laws that apply to you.
- If you receive payments through the Service, you meet the requirements of our payment processor, Stripe.
4. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- Notify us promptly at support@shinetr.ee if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
5. Page Names
Each Creator chooses a page name that forms their public address on shinetr.ee. Page names are allocated on a first-come basis and subject to the following:
- Certain names are reserved for paid plans or protected for brands and public figures, as described on the Pricing page.
- You may not choose a name that impersonates another person or organisation or infringes a trademark.
- We may reclaim a name that violates these Terms, with notice where practicable.
- If a paid plan lapses, the paid name is retained for 30 days and then released.
6. Content and Conduct
You retain ownership of the content you publish on your page. You grant shinetree a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and transmit that content as needed to operate the Service. You are solely responsible for your content and for the sessions you offer.
You agree not to:
- Publish content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, deceptive or harmful.
- Impersonate any person or organisation or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Use the Service for fraud, money laundering or any unlawful purpose.
- Send unsolicited communications through the Service.
- Interfere with the Service, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or use automated means to access it except through features we provide.
- Reverse engineer or copy the Service or its underlying software.
7. Bookings and Offers
- A booking is a contract between the Creator and the Booker. shinetree displays availability, records the booking and sends the related notifications.
- A request or offer becomes a booking only when the Creator accepts it. An offer is a commitment to pay the stated amount if accepted.
- A Booker may cancel under the Creator's cancellation policy shown on the booking page. A Creator may cancel at any time, and the Booker is refunded in full.
- Creators are responsible for honouring confirmed bookings and for the quality and legality of the sessions they deliver.
8. Payments and Fees
- Payments are processed by Stripe. shinetree is the seller of record on the card statement, collects the payment and pays the Creator their share after the session. shinetree never receives card details.
- When a Booker sends a request or offer, the amount is authorised on their card but not charged. The card is charged only if the Creator accepts; otherwise the authorisation is cancelled and nothing is charged.
- A Booker has 10 minutes to complete payment, or to add a card for a request or offer, after choosing a time. If this is not done in time, the booking or request is cancelled and the time is released.
- Platform fees are stated on the Pricing page. At present the Starter plan pays 8% on paid sessions; the Pro and Premium plans pay 0% plus their subscription.
- Refunds are made through shinetree under the Creator's cancellation policy. Stripe's processing fee is not returned.
- Creators are responsible for any taxes arising from payments they receive.
9. Subscriptions
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- You may cancel at any time from Settings or from Stripe. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are not refunded except where required by law.
- We may change plan prices with at least 30 days' notice by email.
10. Third-Party Integrations
The Service lets Creators connect third-party accounts, including Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple Calendar, Zoom and Discord. These integrations are optional.
- Each integration is governed by the third party's own terms and privacy policy, which you accept when you connect it.
- You may disconnect an integration at any time in Settings. Disconnecting deletes the stored credential; items already created in the third-party account, such as calendar events or meetings, remain there.
- shinetree is not responsible for the availability or behaviour of third-party services, or for an integration that stops working because the provider revoked access, changed its service or you changed your credentials. Until you reconnect or disconnect, the last availability we received remains in effect.
- shinetree is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Microsoft, Apple, Zoom, Discord or Stripe. Their trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
11. The Discord Bot
A Creator who connects Discord adds the shinetree bot to a Discord server. The bot makes a shinetree category with a Waiting room, opens a private voice room for each booking of a session held on Discord 15 minutes before the start, and closes it at the booked end, or a little later where the Creator's plan lets a room run over. It also takes bookings through its /book command.
- You may connect only a server you own or manage, and you confirm you have the right to add the bot to it.
- Everyone who uses the bot, Creators and Bookers alike, must follow the Discord Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Bookers who join a Creator's server must also follow that server's own rules.
- The Creator is responsible for their server: its members, its rules, and who can see the shinetree channels. Moderators are kept out of the private rooms unless the Creator adds them, but people with the Administrator permission can see every channel, because Discord gives them that access.
- A Booker must give their own Discord username and be able to join the server. shinetree is not responsible for a Booker who cannot be let into a room because the username given was wrong, or because they left or were removed from the server.
- If a Creator turns on meeting notes, the room's chat and the files shared in it are posted into a private thread in their server when the room closes. The Creator is responsible for telling Bookers that the chat is kept, and for how the notes are used afterwards.
- You may remove the bot from your server at any time. Rooms then stop opening, and bookings already made stay in place for you to move, hold elsewhere or cancel.
12. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, templates and trademarks, is owned by shinetree and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHINETREE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE. shinetree does not warrant the conduct of any Creator or Booker or the outcome of any session.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHINETREE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BOOKINGS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. IN ANY CASE, SHINETREE'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE FEES YOU PAID TO SHINETREE IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, in which case our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless shinetree from any claims, liabilities, damages and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your content, your use of the Service, your sessions, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
16. Termination
- You may close your account at any time by emailing support@shinetr.ee.
- We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. We will give notice where practicable, except in cases of serious breach.
- On termination your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including sections 12 to 15, continue to apply.
17. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Before starting any formal proceedings, you agree to contact us at support@shinetr.ee and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought before the courts of Latvia. Consumers resident in the European Union may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.
18. General
- Severability: if any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
- Entire agreement: these Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and shinetree regarding the Service.
- No waiver: a failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
